New Image! I felt that the old image of Naoki was a little hard to use as a reference, that and it wasn't drawn in my current style.


Like I said in this Journal Entry [link] , I plan on participating in the SDL.
It's been such an interesting development on DA, and since it's so open to who can enter, I thought that it was about time I gave one of these OC Comic Battles a go.

Character Information

Name: Himura Naoki.

Age: Appears to be around 13, but looks can be deceiving...

Likes: Autumn, Peacefulness, Meditation, Kuchika Green Tea.

Dislikes: Ignorance, Injustice, Swimming, Relationships, His Past.


Weapons

'Senkou-Mi'

Translates as 'Flash Sword'. A beautiful katana made in a Shinto shrine some time ago. It draws from its scabbard effortlessly.

'Oni-Kon-Gokusha'

Translates as 'Demon Soul Prison'. A strange gourd that Naoki is burdened by, encasing his paralyzed left arm. It has some deep signifigance to him, so he continues to carry it despite how heavy it is. It can be used as a shield.

Other Weapons

Naoki can also use some limited forms of Judo, though the Oni-Kon-Gokusha makes it hard for him to execute more complex moves. He can also use the large plate in his hair as a mace.


Personality

Naoki is a wanderer, travelling from town to town as he hunts for secretive information.
Though why he's doing so is still unclear, it is believed that it may have something to do with the Oni-Kon-Gokusha.

He does odds and ends for money, though the growing power of the Trade Clans has made him reconsider where to find employment.

He is quit, withdrawn and very well spoken. He's a nice person, but stops himself from becoming friends with others. He isn't afraid to help people out though, particularly those in need. He has a very sound sense of justice.


Combat Skills

'Iaijutsu'

A form of swordplay that involves drawing the sword, striking, and then re-sheathing the blade with smooth, clean stokes.
Naoki is so well practised in this art that his strokes cannot be seen; the only sign of him having even moved his arm being a slight blur in his hand.
He uses this technique primarily for defence, as the Oni-Kon-Gokusha makes it hard for him strike aggressively. That, and he's rather passive in a fight. Attacking just isn't his style. He would rather have the ultimate defence.

'Oni-Kon-Gokusha'

Naoki's greatest handicap. It cannot be removed. It's weight restricts him from moving fast, and also makes him vulnerable to anything that sinks, such as bodies of water or quicksand. That and it leaves him with only one arm to use.
It also seems to trouble him psychologically. What on earth is this thing?!


Relationships

Though Naoki has always kept himself from making friends, if he is to complete his illusive agendas, he will need to make some alliances. Maybe he will even learn to break away from his fear of relationships in the process.
